Fraser Minten has 5 points for the Bruins already, and Saturday's 5-1 win over the Flyers made the regret in Toronto a lot louder.
One Maple Leafs fan account didn't hold back Saturday afternoon. "The Minten trade really hurts," the post opened, before warning it'll hold Toronto back from contending for years.
Harsh? The production in Boston isn't doing the counterargument any favors.
The 22-year-old has two goals and three assists through six games. One of those goals already stood up as a game-winner.
He's also sitting at +2 for a Bruins team that's won two straight.
And the price tag stings even more. Minten carries a cap hit of $879,168.
Over in Toronto, Jack Roslovic costs $4,000,000 and has four points. Do the math, then go lie down.
Maple Leafs face Colorado tonight without John Tavares
Toronto's depth gets tested tonight in Colorado, and the Leafs will be without John Tavares.
He's listed day-to-day for personal reasons and isn't expected back until at least Oct. 13. That's the exact hole the fan account was picturing Minten filling.
Jim Hiller's group sits at 2-2-1 after dropping a shootout in Vegas on Thursday.
Goaltending hasn't bailed anyone out either. Anthony Stolarz is at a .904 save percentage and Sergei Bobrovsky sits at .906.
Boston's crease looks a lot sturdier. Jeremy Swayman owns a .932 save percentage and already has a shutout.
Marco Sturm also has 19-year-old James Hagens chipping in four points. The Bruins' kids are pulling weight, and Toronto's just watching.
Watching Minten produce in black and gold is like selling a lottery ticket at face value and checking the numbers the next morning.
The same post claimed the deal also cost Toronto its 2027-28 first-round pick, one the Leafs could've flipped for a good young defenseman.
Moving a cost-controlled young forward to a division rival was a bad bet. It looks worse every time he touches the puck.
Too early to call it after one week of hockey? Maybe. Sample sizes this small have fooled smarter people than a fan account.
Boston opens a four-game western road trip Tuesday in San Jose. The first look at Minten against his old team doesn't come until Friday, Nov. 27, in Boston.
Plenty of Leafs fans already think they know how that night goes.
