Gavin McKenna can't quite explain what Connor McDavid is doing this season, and the Maple Leafs rookie gets a front-row look tonight in Edmonton.
“It's like every night you just are expecting him to put up five points. I don't know how he's doing it,” McKenna told Mark Masters.
“But I got to skate with him this summer and kind of see what he was like, and he's out of this world.”
The kid isn't exaggerating. Expecting five points a night sounds ridiculous right up until you look at the stat sheet.
It's like a young chef watching the master work the line and still not being able to figure out the recipe.
McDavid has 31 points through 10 games.
That includes 23 assists, 10 of them on the power play.

Can McKenna hold his own on a night when the best player in the world is on the other bench tonight?
The rookie is a fan for now. Once the puck drops, the Leafs need him to forget that for 60 minutes.
