Senators forward Warren Foegele needed help off the ice Tuesday night in Vegas after knee-on-knee contact from Jeremy Lauzon.

After a lengthy review, Lauzon was handed two minutes for kneeing. That's it.

For a play that left a player unable to get off the ice on his own, that's a light sentence.

The Golden Knights went on to win 4-1, snapping a three-game skid.

It was already a heated night. Mark Stone also barrelled over linesman Kyle Flemington in the same game.

The clip shows the two players' knees meeting as they come together, then the Ottawa forward needing help just to reach the bench.

Golden Knights beat Senators 4-1, and Warren Foegele's status for Los Angeles is unclear

Foegele finished with 11:36 of ice time.

The 30-year-old has four points through 12 games, with a plus-5 rating.

He carries a $3,500,000 cap hit.

Knee-on-knee plays are among the scariest in the sport, because the damage can linger long after the penalty expires.

Calling that a minor is like writing a parking ticket for a car that just drove through a storefront.

Lauzon, a Vegas defenseman on a $4,000,000 deal, has yet to record a point through 14 games.

He finished with four penalty minutes on the night.

Will the league take another look? That's the question Ottawa will be asking.

The Senators dropped to 8-5-0 with the loss. Shane Pinto scored their only goal on the power play.

Jack Eichel, William Karlsson, Raphael Lavoie and Braeden Bowman scored for Vegas, and Adin Hill stopped 24 of 25 shots.

For Ryan Craig's group, the win was a relief. For Ottawa, it came at a price.

The Senators visit Los Angeles on Thursday. If Foegele can't go, they'll feel that two-minute call for a lot longer than two minutes.
