Minnesota Wild Signs Young Goalie to a Contract And Send Him Straight to the NHL Waiver Wire
The Minnesota Wild has placed a young goalie on the NHL waiver wire right after announcing his contract signature.

On X, the organization announced that they've signed the goaltender Dylan Ferguson to a one-year contract and that they've placed him on waivers.

With Filip Gustavsson performing well and the future hall-of-fame member Marc-André Fleury backing him up, Ferguson will be much more useful in the AHL, with the Iowa Wild.
In his career, Ferguson, 26, took part in three NHL games for the Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Ottawa Senators. He tallied great numbers in his last NHL stint (0.940 SV% and 2.52 GAA back in 2022-23 with the Sens.
This season, the 194th overall pick in the 2017 draft by the Dallas Stars took part in one ECHL game with the Iowa Heartlanders and had a shutout. He also played in seven AHL games and currently has a 0.900 save percentage and a 3.30 goals-against average.
Teams looking to make a long run in the playoffs know that injuries can occur and must be able to rely on solid depth in all areas of their lineup.
If Gustavsson or Fleury fall to an injury, Ferguson will be able to step in.
He should clear waivers, as most of the teams who were looking to make changes between the pipes already did it, such as the Colorado Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks.
