The Utah Hockey Club don't plan to stay that way forever, but after Utah Yeti was blocked, the team have now put forth three very unpopular options.

Over the past week, the Utah Hockey Club and Owner Ryan Smith were dealt major blows, as the trademark for the name 'Utah Yeti' was officially denied, taking them back to square one when it comes to a new name.

Now, the announcement has been made over what their new team name will be, and fans aren't thrilled, as it will be left in the hands of the fans, who were offered these three names as the final choices.

Utah Mammoth

Over this past off-season, fans were outraged with the options that they were given, and ultimately that forced Smith to change their options, and given the reaction to this announcement, there's certainly the potential for this to happen yet again.

These are just two examples of many, many comments that believe these names aren't appropriate, and for the NHL, if this type of backlash continues, they may have to take matters into their own hands and promote a much better option.

It's unclear what those options were, with fans in the summer preferring the likes of Utah Outlaws, Utah Venom and Utah Blizzard, and after almost a year, it's highly disappointing to see one of the three finalists be the highly scrutinized 'Utah Hockey Club' name.

Only time will tell whether these three finalists go through as the fan vote options, but given the comments, it's safe to say that Mammoth would be the favourite for now, so we will wait and see whether or not a change is made or if you are looking at the future name of the NHL club in Salt Lake City.
