Matt Rempe Breaks the Silence on His Dirty Play and Suspension
For the first time since his suspension, Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers talked to the media about the four-game suspension he served for elbowing Jonas Siegenthaler of the New Jersey Devils during a game.
On March 12th, the NHL handed out a four-game suspension to Rempe for a hit to Siegenthaler's head.
Rangers' Matt Rempe Addresses His Four-Game Suspension Publicly For The First Time
Rempe's suspension ended Tuesday, but the Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette decided to scratch him for their game against the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets ultimately won the game 4-2.
In his first discussion since the incident, Rempe reflects on his actions against Siegenthaler and the lessons he's learned through his suspension.

"Obviously, watching back, I did. I made a mistake I thought I hit the wall, but I ended up hitting him. That was unfortunate. I'm sorry about that."
"More control of my body, just stuff like that. If a guy is pulling out of a hit, just got to be careful. It was an accident. I thought I was going to hit the wall Never want to see a guy get hurt or anything like that. I'm still going to play super hard, play the same way. I'm just going to make sure my hits are clean, like, keep everything compact, keep everything tight. It will be good. Just live and learn."
