Steven Stamkos may be done in Tampa after comments from Alex Killorn

The Lightning's captain, Steven Stamkos, may be done in Tampa Bay after new comments made by Alex Killorn shed light on the organization's treatment towards players.

Stamkos will hit the free agent market on July 1 and there are a lot of doubts about his future with the organization that drafted him first overall back in 2008.

Alex Killorn, a former member of the organization, who left the team last summer after 11 seasons, believes that Stamkos won't stay if the Lightning doesn't want him.

Killorn signed a contract on July 1, 2023, with the Anaheim Ducks. His comment could suggest that his own negotiations went like that, and that is why he joined another team.

At some point, even if Stamkos has been the team captain for the past 10 years, hockey is a business. Julien BriseBois isn't afraid to make tough business decisions, and it's anticipated that a big one is coming for Stamkos.

This season, the player scored 77 points, including 39 goals, in 75 games, proving that he still has what it takes to perform in the NHL at 34 years old.

The possibility of seeing Stamkos remain in Tampa is still there, but if the captain doesn't like how he's being treated by the organization in the negotiations, or if he doesn't feel needed and appreciated at his true value, he could be tempted to look at other avenues.
