Canucks Defenseman Throws Shade at Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews

We've all been there, starting a team from scratch in NHL. Most would take Connor McDavid in a heartbeat but one Canucks defenseman says he would rather take someone else if building a real team.

Nikita Zadorov said today that he would take Nathan MacKinnon over Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews if he was building a team from scratch.

The veteran defenseman made the statement ahead of the Canuck's match against the Colorado Avalanche. He went on to further elaborate on his thoughts about MacKinnon, citing his winning history. Tonight'd game served to further his case.

The Canucks built a three-goal lead over the first two periods but Colorado finally answered back with less than two seconds left in the period. Ross Colton would then get one just across the goal line on a scramble play. It took a replay review to confirm that the puck crossed the line as the referee initially waived it off.

Nathan MacKinnon tied the game late, with a perfect one-timer on the powerplay.

The Avalanche captain would play an important role in the game-winning goal as well. The Avalanche were on the powerplay again as Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy took a delay of game with just seconds left in regulation.

The Avalanche captain would take another one-timer in overtime. This one hit Valeri Nichushkin in the visor, deflecting past the Canucks goaltender.
